The Week of French language and Francophonie 2017

On the occasion of the international Week of the French Language and the Francophonie in the world, the Embassy of Switzerland organizes two sport events on the 07. and 08.04.2017 (click here (PDF, 2 Pages, 1.8 MB) to see the francophonie program).

Two sportsmen form the Swiss sport association « X-Trem Move » of Lausanne (Switzerland), Mr. Kevin Crupi and Mr. Yoann Roig, have been invited to Baku to demonstrate the sport called parkour.

This sport uses urban elements such as walls, barriers, trees or stairs as obstacles, which the athletes must traverse in the fastest and most efficient way possible, using different forms of movement like running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, etc.  It was created in the late 80’s inspired by a military obstacle training and is now an acrobatic extreme sport.

Kevin & Yohann will first give a Swiss Master Class of parkour & freerun on Friday 07.04.2017 at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports. This is a closed event dedicated to the students, who will learn basic techniques for jumping on and acrobatically traversing through obstacles in an athletic and elegant way.

On Saturday, 08.04.2017 at 15h00  Yoann & Kevin will perform a spectacular Parkour & freerun Open Air Show together with two members of the Gilavar Extreme Sports Club, Mr. Mammadzada Hasan and Mr. Gurbanov Ayaz, in the amazing scenic location, which is the UNESCO protected historical site of Icheri Sheher (old city), just in front of the Maiden Tower (see poster).

The show is open to everybody (free entrance)! Please feel free to forward this invitation to your friends and contacts!
