| Contesto |
Two years into the conflict between Sudan’s armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces, the country faces a deepening humanitarian catastrophe marked by mass displacement, regional spillover, and a collapsing economy and health system. Violence - including most recent atrocities in El Fasher - continues to drive millions into neighbouring countries that are themselves overwhelmed, while aid cuts worsen acute hunger, disease outbreaks, and protection risks. With most health facilities nonfunctional, rising migration pressures, and a fragile, disputed ceasefire, further destabilization and humanitarian deterioration across the region are highly likely. Switzerland’s Federal Council has requested the Parliament to allocate an additional CHF 50 million to help address the most urgent needs—including food, drinking water, medical care, shelter, and protection measures—thereby enabling Switzerland to provide substantial relief in conflict-affected areas. MSF Switzerland will receive CHF 5 million to support its operations in Chad and the operations of MSF Belgium in South Sudan, where the arrival of close to two million refugees and returnees have put pressure on the already stretched public health services and resources. |
