25 Years ABB Hungary - Stage 13 of the „Grand Tour of Switzerland in Hungary“

The Internet of Things: On the occasion of its 25th, anniversary ABB Hungary introduced its visions and some of the technologies of the future.

Being a Swiss-Swedish corporation, both the Swiss and the Swedish ambassador were present at the celebration. The festive event itself also showed a premiere for ambassador Burkhard since after having presented his credentials to President János Áder on October 19th it was the first opportunity for him to deliver an official speech in his function as accredited ambassador of Switzerland to Hungary.

At the celebration which took place at the Larus Event and Conference Center in Budapest, numerous leaders from the Hungarian economy were present.

The former director of ABB Hungary, Tanja Vainio, now head of ABB in the Czech Republic and regional director for Central Europe and the newly appointed director of ABB Hungary, Taira-Julia Lammi were inviting to this festive event. Having newly arrived to Hungary, the celebration was a premiere to her aswell.

The celebration was held under the topic Internet of Things. The evening allowed the invited guests to catch an interesting preview of the new techniques and ways of cooperation between man and machine. Of particular interest was the two-armed robot YuMi and the new technologies of the virtual reality, which – in near future – could allow carrying out local maintenance works form any place on the globe.

Since ABB was heavily involved in the construction of the Gotthard base tunnel, the mobile exhibition “Gottardo 2016” was also presented at the event. Not only did ABB provide the supply of energy, but it also delivered the ventilation system which with its performance of 15,6 MW is the strongest of its kind worldwide.
