Visit of Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer to Budapest

Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer, Head of the Federal Department of Finances, met with Finance Minister Mihály Varga in Budapest.

Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer travelled to Hungary on the 25th of June for a working visit at the invitation of his Hungarian counterpart Mihály Varga. During a working dinner, the two finance ministers discussed the EU's planned introduction of a minimum tax on the profits of multinational companies as well as the envisaged digital tax, which aim to mitigate international tax competition. The visit also provided an opportunity to exchange views on other financial and European policy issues, as well as to acknowledge the close and multifaceted bilateral relations between the two countries.

Finance Minister Varga was accompanied by State Secretary for Tax Affairs Norbert Izer, the  State Secretary for Finance Gábor Gion and the Hungarian Ambassador to Switzerland, Dr. József Czukor. Federal Councillor Maurer was accompanied by State Secretary for International Financial Affairs, Daniela Stoffel, the Diplomatic Adviser, Alexandra Baumann and the Swiss Ambassador to Hungary, Jean-Francois Paroz.
