The Swiss Days in Debrecen, from 3 to 9 October 2022, were organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in Hungary in partnership with the City of Debrecen and other partners like Swisscham Hungary, and with the support of several Swiss companies. The objective was to show that Switzerland is a longtime partner of Hungary with significant political, economic, social and cultural dialogue and cooperation.

With a Swiss Pavilion in the Deutsches Kulturforum, a Swiss-Hungarian Economic Forum on innovation and cooperation opportunities, presence in schools and the university with conferences, meetings and educative material, treasure-seeking walks through the “Hungarian Geneva”, public concerts given by the musicians of the Alphorn Academy of Switzerland who were present the whole week, the presentation of a Swiss movie and a Swiss Picnic with Swiss Raclette and other traditional products, various aspects of the Swiss presence in Debrecen and of Swiss culture were highlighted and made visible to a large audience.

The Swiss economic presence in Debrecen has been strengthening in recent years with the expansion of the production plants of the Swiss company Neopac in 2016 and the opening of Sensirion in September 2021. Together with Oerlikon, also based in Debrecen, these companies became the main sponsors of the “Swiss-Hungarian Business Talks” organized in cooperation with Swisscham Hungary and the Economic Development Center of Debrecen on 5th of October. During this forum, Swiss und Hungarian economic actors exchanged experiences and discussed the cooperation opportunities between Switzerland and Hungary in the region of Debrecen. Together with the Hungarian National Coordination Unit, the opportunities for cooperation within the new framework of the second Swiss-Hungarian Cooperation Program under the Second Swiss Contribution to promote economic and social cohesion in Europe were also presented at the forum.
