Roman Signer (born in 1938) is a Swiss artist active since the 1970s. He uses daily objects like kayaks or furniture to cause movement with elements such as fire, water, and wind in a humorous and sometimes absurd manner. Although Signer is one of Switzerland’s most prominent artists, his works have been shown only on limited occasions in Japan. This exhibition thus brings together Singer’s modern, architectural and contemporary works, as well as two of his installations. Furthermore, paintings by major Swiss artist Paul Klee are also part of the curation. The exhibition is organized by the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art, the MIMOCA Foundation, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, and the Window Research Institute.
