Le programme de la Fondation Tdh vise à réduire de manière durable la mortalité et la morbidité enfantine, à permettre l’accès à la santé, à l’eau et à l’assainissement pour les mères et enfants les plus pauvres, à protéger les enfants victimes de conflits et de catastrophes, à développer des systèmes de protection de l’enfant et à promouvoir les bonnes pratiques en matière de justice pour mineurs. Il contribue à la promotion du développement durable et à la réduction de la pauvreté dans le domaine de l’enfance, dans des contextes fragiles.

The program of IAMANEH Switzerland addresses women and children in Western Africa and the Western Balkans in order to secure their access to quality primary health services, to grant safe motherhood and birth, to offer protection and safety from violence and health damaging practices and to allow informed choice with regard to family planning and prevention. Advocacy work contributes to the improvement of frame conditions for health and the securing of a sustainable health and social protection system in these regions.

Solidar Switzerland’s cooperation engagement contributes to poverty reduction and respect of human rights. It supports political and economical processes to improve equitable access to resources, labour and power in a globalised world. Special focus is to enhance the decent work agenda and to foster democratic structures. At the same time Solidar undertakes awareness raising and advocacy activities in Switzerland, in order to sensitise the Swiss public on development policy issues.

In the Western Balkans, artistic expression and cooperation between cultural actors have proven to be powerful instruments for supporting processes linked to democratisation. Among these are intercultural dialogue, mutual tolerance, social cohesion and even economic development. By contributing to the Balkans Arts and Cultural Fund (BAC), set up by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF), SDC supports independent cultural work as important agent in fostering inclusive, democratic and prosperous societies in the region.

The democratic development of any country must include - besides institution building - support to an active citizenry to demand transparent, accountable and inclusive governance. Since independence in 2008, Kosovo has been moving to reform and decentralise its administration. Local self-administration in the 38 municipalities is to be expanded. The SDC project "Decentralisation and Municipal Support" (DEMOS) supports 17 municipalities in improving their public services.

Rural Water and Sanitation Support Programme Kosovo (RWSSP V)

Since 2005, the Swiss Rural Water and Sanitation Support Programme has provided access to safe drinking water and sanitation to more than 150,000 people living in rural area. The programme is building infrastructure, strengthening managing capacity, and developing the sector framework conditions. It is expected that by 2017, 320,000 people will benefit and that the Regional Water Companies maintain effectively the water networks.

The standard of healthcare provision in Kosovo is inadequate and does not meet the needs of the general population. Vulnerable groups are particularly affected, with a number of economic and social barriers limiting their access to care. That is why the SDC is working to improve the quality and inclusivity of the primary healthcare system in Kosovo.
