This bilateral treaty creates a basis to simplify and accelerate procedures in the detection and prosecution of criminal acts, in particular as regards property crimes, homicides and the fight against narcotics-related crime. It also provides for the possibility of setting up joint investigative teams. Whilst recalling the already excellent cooperation which prevails between our two countries in this field, Amb. Kolly stressed that the conclusion of such treaty is also an integral part of Switzerland’s policy aimed at ensuring that the Republic of Kosovo is well integrated in international frameworks. The Treaty will enter into force as soon as the requirements required by the respective laws are met in both countries. In Switzerland, upon parliamentary approval, the treaty will be subject to an optional referendum.
