Message from the Head of Cooperation in Mongolia

Local news, 18.10.2021

The river never stops; it goes on, finding its way through hills into valleys and plains. It is quite true about time as well. It waits for none and keeps moving and changing often quickly as did my first year in Mongolia. I am now into the second year of serving you and this beautiful country. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause delays in reaching out to you. The pandemic continues to oversteer me as you and the whole world. It is presenting limitations to space and speed. However, I am proud to present you a second edition of "Onsite Insights" newsletter to you.

"Fight for the things that you care about but in a way, that will lead others to join you." This word from Ruth Bader, a recently deceased American judge, is always in my mind. During various project visits, travelling through amazing landscape like Arkhangai, Zavkhan, Darkhan, Uvurkhangai and Bulgan and meeting with wonderful people, I repeatedly had the humbling opportunity to identify areas in which we can bring a benefit and contribute to a better life of many people. We can always make a difference, when bright and innovative minds of amazing people full of energy and dreams stand together to create a better and sustainable future.

Your interest and support in our efforts in Mongolia remains a source of inspiration for me and the entire SDC team for  holding hands of those associated with agriculture and food security, basic education and vocational training and good governance – and culture. I take this opportunity to let you know that it is a privilege to be able to speak and exchange ideas with you.

Please do share with us your feedback because it is the  willingness and commitment of all partners including people, institutions and government that broadens horizons and brings change and hope to lives.

I wish that you would enjoy the achievements of our team in Mongolia with the support of our partners.

Stefanie Burri,
Head of Cooperation
