| Hintergrund | The war in the Gaza Strip and rising violence in the West Bank have triggered severe humanitarian consequences for children and their caregivers. In the Gaza Strip, damage across sectors and limited humanitarian access have created critical needs in shelter, water, health and education services, have led to trauma, family separation, and other impacts affecting child well-being and protection. In addition, food insecurity and malnutrition have impacted children’s health and physical development and a collapsed education system with schools closed for over two years, has impacted children’s learning and cognitive development. In the West Bank, an increase in violence, access limitation to social services including health and education, and displacement have a toll on children and their families. UNICEF provides life-saving support in WASH, health, nutrition, education, child protection and social protection at the benefit of the physical and mental well-being of children and their caregivers in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. |
