Fruske Terme hotel in Vrdnik becoming the first Mövenpick hotel in Serbia

On 22nd June 2022, Ambassador Urs Schmid attended the signing ceremony of the franchise agreement between Promont Group (Resorts Fruske Terme) and the French Accor Group in presence of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.

In his address, he expressed his pleasure to participate in such an important event by which the Fruske Terme hotel in Vrdnik will become the first Mövenpick hotel in Serbia. He pointed out that the Swiss brand “Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts” which was acquired in 2018 by the French Accor Group has paved the way for a new style of modern hospitality. He welcomed the high standards with regards to sustainability and corporate responsibility being implemented through this franchise agreement in Serbia.

In this context, Ambassador Schmid took the opportunity to confirm the strong economic footage of Switzerland in Serbia, being among the most important direct foreign investors. Despite the pandemic, bilateral trade has grown by 16% in the last year and with regard to the trade in services Switzerland has become Serbia's 4th biggest partner. In the field of supporting Serbia’s economic, political and social reforms aimed at European integration, Switzerland is among the most important donors of Serbia and has just launched its new strategy for cooperation 2022-2025 that will focus on implementing projects in the field of governance, economic development and employment as well as climate.

The signing ceremony was attended by H.E. Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, Mr. Camil Yazbeck, Senior VP and Development Director of ACCOR Northern Europe, Mr. Milinko Cicmil, General Manager of Promont Group, French Deputy Ambassador Mr. Fatih Akcal, and Serbian Chamber of Commerce President Marko Cadez.
