"Ma vie de Courgette” presented at the Singapore International Film Festival, 26 November @ Shaw Theatre Lido

The Embassy is delighted to support the screening of the animated film “Ma vie de Courgette” (“My Life as a Courgette”) by Swiss director Claude Barras at the 27th Singapore International Film Festival. The newly released stop-motion animation has been shown at prestigious film festivals worldwide and we look forward to its coming to Singapore. “Ma vie de Courgette” is Switzerland’s entry for an Oscar nomination as Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.

“Ma vie de Courgette” tells the story of nine-year-old Icare, called Courgette, who is placed in an orphanage after his mother’s sudden death. At first, his struggle to adapt in this strange new environment is harsh. Yet Courgette is befriended by a kind policeman who helps him to eventually learn to trust and find true love. Director Claude Barras describes the movie as “a film about childhood rather than a children’s film, a melodrama full of emotion and humor”.
