State visit

Between Monday, 11 July, and Wednesday, 13 July, Singapore will host a state visit for a Swiss president for the first time. This is an expression of the close cooperation between the two countries and comes ahead of the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations in 2017. President Schneider-Ammann will be received by President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and will hold official talks with Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang.

Singapore is Switzerland's most important trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). One of the aims of the trip is to discuss new avenues for cooperation in the fields of business and science. On Tuesday, 12 July, Mr Schneider-Ammann, who will be accompanied by a business delegation, led by President of economiesuisse Heinz Karrer, will speak at the Switzerland-Singapore Business Forum, "SkillsFuture - Developing a future ready workforce".

President Schneider-Ammann and his delegation will continue their journey to Seoul and Ulaanbaatar.
