Contexte

Water scarcity is severely affecting South Africa. In particular Western Cape is facing its worst water shortage in more than hundred years. There is an increased awareness among the South African authorities of the challenges related to water supply and demand. The agri-processing sector is a key sector of South Africa’s economy (GDP contribution of 4.3 percent) that needs to reduce its costs and optimize its production processes (including an efficient use of resources) to retain and increase its competitiveness.

Objectifs

Support the private sector to improve their water use productivity and efficiency, thereby preserve resouces and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
