József Trefeli Company Performing in Want to Dance Festival

The József Trefeli Company, the Geneva based contemporary dance company, will perform at Want to Dance Festival from 21-23 April. Founded in 2005, the Company defends choreographic research and collaboration between choreographers of different cultures to promote real cultural exchange. More than 20 choreographic works have been created to date and toured the world. 

At the Festival, the Company will perform JINX 103, a collaboration with Gabor Varga, which has had presence onstage more than 200 times in 112 cities of 33 countries- a dynamic duo between two dancers who rhythms and rituals with contemporary dance and body percussion to create a musical dance delight in a high energy, captivating performance.

The starting point for Creature is the accessories used in dances including sticks, whips, mask and costumes. The process is to deconstruct and recycle the traditional dances and accessories with a view to make it relevant to the audience of today. The piece received a Swiss Dance Award in the category of Current Dance Works in 2017.
