Save the Children, Building Inclusive Resilience and Durable Solutions for forcibly displaced populations and vulnerable groups in Yobe State
Finding durable solutions for up to five hundred thousand current and formerly displaced persons (IDPs) in Yobe State, Northeast Nigeria, is a critical step towards lasting peace and development in the region. This project, which is part of a multi-pronged SDC support to local authorities, will contribute to facilitate local integration and return of IDPs by enhancing agricultural productivity, providing livelihood and employment opportunities, strengthening community disaster risk reduction, and access to justice.

Hintergrund | Yobe has been the second most affected state by the Boko Haram insurgency ravaging Northeast Nigeria since 2009. While parts of Yobe remain insecure and the state is the fifth poorest in the country, substantial areas of Yobe are relatively safe, its legal and policy framework are highly favourable towards IDP integration, local communities have been rather welcoming and the Yobe State Government (YSG) has shown leadership and proactivity in developing an ambitious action plan to find durable solutions to internal displacement for 150 000 IDPs and 350 000 returnees. In line with its global commitment to durable solutions, Switzerland has been supporting the YSG to increase its visibility and fundraising opportunities for its durable solutions action plan. This project will complement and strengthen existing Swiss durable solutions support to Yobe, by providing essential services to IDPs and host communities, and by deploying human resources support to the YSG for the implementation of the plan. |
Ziele | The overall goal of the project is to enhance access to essential services and economic opportunities for internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and vulnerable members of host communities. |
