The 33rd Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) shines the spotlight on cinematography from the Caribbean in addition to this year's romantic comedies. The SDC has supported the festival, which promotes film-making in the South and East, since its inception.

From 15 to 23 March 2019, visitors to Fribourg can once again enjoy an array of films from all over the world. The international competition of the Fribourg International Film Festival (FIFF) is the centrepiece of the festival programme, with 12 feature-length films and three short film programmes.

The selection of short-films – a mixture of fiction, documentaries and animation – presents new talent and cinematography trends from Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The film-makers are invited to showcase their work in Fribourg. In addition to screenings of romantic comedies from all over the world, including Croatia, Argentina, Honduras, Israel and Jordan, the parallel sections shine the spotlight on the burgeoning Caribbean film industry and will be presenting new films from Haiti, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

The detailed programme of the 33rd FIFF will be published on the festival website on 28 February. The SDC has supported the festival, which promotes film-making in the South and East, since its inception.
