Ambassador, Vice-Director, Head of Department Cooperation with Eastern Europe
Ambassador Ruth Huber was born 1966 in Gränichen, canton of Aargau. She obtained a master’s degree in International Relations of the University of St. Gall, Switzerland.
Before joining the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) Mrs. Huber worked as a delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in South Africa, Bosnia and Peru.
Mrs. Huber joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, FDFA, in 1996, working during 4 years in the Swiss Cooperation Office in Bolivia, followed by functions in the Head Office of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, SDC, in Berne, as Deputy Head of the Division for Employment and Income and as Deputy Head and Head a.i. of the Global Cooperation Department in, in charge of multilateral cooperation and the Global Programs on Food Security, Water, Climate Change and Migration.
From 2011-2015 Mrs. Ruth Huber was Regional Director of the SDC program in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. From 2015-2018 she served as Ambassador of Switzerland to Zimbabwe and Malawi.
In March 2018 Ambassador Ruth Huber assumed her position as Vice-Director of SDC and Head of Department Cooperation with Eastern Europe in Berne.
