Contexto Honduras is one of the poorest and most unequal countries in the Americas, with a poverty rate of 68.7%. It has one of the highest homicide rates: 41.8 per 100,000 inhabitants. The last 12 years have been characterized by a strong co-optation of state institutions, by drug trafficking, high levels of corruption and impunity. Spaces for dialogue and alternative and peaceful conflict transformation have been reduced, giving way to conflict, distrust and protests by citizens, generating violent and repressive responses and massive human rights violations by the State and private actors, limiting the possibilities for sustainable development. Finally, women and human rights defenders are particularly affected by social conflict.
Objetivos Contribute to gradually and progressively overcome the culture of violence, polarization and social conflict, strengthening the processes of dialogue, social cohesion and empowerment of organizations and communities linked to the SDC’s portfolio, focusing on the three regions of Honduras: Gulf of Fonseca, the Mosquitia and at the central level.
