Retain Access in Afghanistan (RAA)

Beneficiaries: poor and vulnerable population of Afghanistan, who depend on humanitarian aid and development assistance.

Target groups: humanitarian and development actors in Afghanistan that make use of the services provided by the project partners.

• Outcome 1: Humanitarian and development actors better understand the security environment in Afghanistan and improve their security management practices (INSO).
• Outcome 2: Humanitarian and development actors better understand the political context in Afghanistan and apply this knowledge in their operations and policy dialogue (AAN).
• Outcome 3: Humanitarian and development actors have better physical access to remote and hard-to-reach areas (PACTEC).

Resultados previstos:  

• Output 1.1: INSO provides NGOs with objective and reliable security information, analysis and advice.
• Output 1.2: INSO supports NGOs in developing their individual security management preparedness and capacity through direct support and training.
• Output 2.1: AAN provides relevant and timely research and analysis within seven thematic areas  through the publication of dispatches and reports.
• Output 2.2: AAN disseminates information through various channels (website, social media, briefings, conferences, etc.) and expands its Dari/Pashto communication.
• Output 3.1: PACTEC provides air transport services to remote and underserved destinations across Afghanistan.
• Output 3.2: PACTEC coordinates and oversees clearing of snow and repair of critical airstrips.

Resultados de las fases anteriores:  

• 249 organisations received timely security information and advice; 84% adapted their procedures or decision-making (INSO).
• Over 100 annual dispatches were published and readership reached over 900'000 persons in 2017 (AAN).
• A Dari/Pashto site was set up and Afghan researchers authored or co-authored 43 dispatches in 2017 (AAN).
• Over 1'700 individuals from 36 aid organisations had access to 38 hard-to-reach destinations (PACTEC).
