Swiss Contribution to the Global Forest Financing Facilitation Network (GFFFN)

Projet terminé

Many developing countries do not have the capacity to tap the different financial opportunities available for financing sustainable forest management (SFM). The Swiss contribution to the Global Forest Finance Facilitation Network (GFFFN) will provide catalytic support in the form of capacity building and technical expertise to promote the development of meaningful action and finance.

Contexte Many countries around the world still lack the capacity needed to tap financial resources for Sustainable Forest Management (SFM). During the past decade, significant additional international public financing for forests has become available. The Global Forest Financing Facilitation Network (GFFFN) bridges the gap that will allow countries – in particular the less advantaged - to make better use of the diverse available opportunities.
Objectifs The outcomes of the GFFFN’s catalytic measures are expected to make significant measurable contributions to increased resources mobilization for sustainable forest management (SFM). And improve the efficiency and effectiveness of forest financing from all sources. These financial contributions will enhance the increased economic, social and environmental benefits from expanded SFM implementation in developing countries and countries with economies in transition.
Groupes cibles Interested parties, governmental services and national and subnational level and non-governmental stakeholders that are responsible for the management of the permanent forest estate, both for production and protection.
