Switzerland and the Caribbean island state of St Kitts and Nevis maintain good, but not very extensive relations.

Key aspects of diplomatic relations

The Swiss embassy in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) has represented the interests of Switzerland in St Kitts and Nevis since 2007. Since May 2011, all consular matters have been dealt with by the Regional Consular Centre in Santo Domingo.

Switzerland and St Kitts and Nevis have to date not concluded any agreements.

Economic cooperation

St Kitts and Nevis' two main economic sectors are tourism and financial services. There is little trade between the two-island state and Switzerland. In 2022, Switzerland imported CHF 700,000 in goods from St Kitts and Nevis and exported goods worth CHF 1.8 million.

Researchers who are citizens of St Kitts and Nevis can apply to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships.

At the end of 2022 there were 21 Swiss citizens living in St Kitts and Nevis.

History of bilateral relations

The two-island state of St Kitts and Nevis in the eastern Caribbean (Lesser Antilles) has been independent since 1983 and diplomatic relations with Switzerland have existed since 1992.
