Sustainable development
The FDFA is actively involved in implementing sustainable development at the international level. It supports cooperation as part of international agreements and organisations. It also contributes to the drafting of rules and targets to promote sustainable development and implement the 2030 Agenda.

Sustainable development is enshrined in the Swiss constitution, providing a solid basis for Switzerland's international commitment in this area. The FDFA plays a key role in advancing the international agenda in this field. In multilateral negotiations, it has maintained a strong commitment to the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which was adopted in 2015.
The FDFA attaches considerable importance to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda internationally and to Switzerland's implementation of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs cover a broad range of issues relating to sustainable development, including combating poverty, protecting the climate and ensuring responsible business practices are in place. The FDFA's role also involves translating national measures into the international context and incorporating international goals and targets into national processes.
The FDFA’s work at the international level includes supporting related multilateral discussions and negotiations, such as the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and the European Sustainable Development Week.
