Training and knowledge transfer

How do I conduct myself at a checkpoint? How can I minimise the risks posed by mines during a field operation? When working in a war-torn country or in a different culture, what do I need to bear in mind when passing on my expertise? These are some of the challenges that experts have to face while working in the field.

The Swiss Expert Pool for Civilian Peacebuilding (SEP) organises training courses in conjunction with external partners to prepare experts for their deployments and provide them with further training. At the same time, Switzerland supports the transfer of knowledge and promotes the training of international experts.

Knowledge transfer and training for specialists from crisis-hit regions

In order to achieve its peacebuilding goals, the UN recommends better integrating and promoting local knowledge. Switzerland therefore places particular emphasis on knowledge transfer. The expert pool invites international experts to attend courses in Switzerland and supports training centres in sub-Saharan Africa, such as the International Peacebuilding Training Centre (IPSTC) in Nairobi, Kenya.
