"Swiss-EU relations : perspectives" : Conference of State Secretary Roberto Balzaretti

State Secretary and Head of the Directorate for European Affairs (DEA) Roberto Balzaretti spoke at a conference on 31 January 2019 about the perspectives of the relations between Switzerland and the European Union.

The event, organised by the Fondation Jean Monnet pour l'Europe and the Centre de droit de l’entreprise de l’Université de Lausanne (CEDIDAC), was held on the campus of the University of Lausanne (UNIL). About 320 participants from political and  academice circles as well as students attended the conference. State Secretary Balzaretti's speech was followed by a Q&A session.

After the introduction speeches of Gilles Grin, Director of the Fondation Jean Monnet, and Damiano Canapa, Professor at the UNIL and Director of the CEDIDAC, Roberto Balzaretti spoke about the current context of the relations between Switzerland and the EU. In charge of negotiating the institutional agreement, the State Secretary recalled that both Switzerland and the EU have an interest in this agreement and underlined the specificities that must be guaranteed for Switzerland.
