As we welcome the new year and extend our wishes for a peaceful, hopeful and prosperous year to all, Switzerland is deeply shaken by the tragic fire on New Year's Eve in Crans-Montana.

In the wake of this tragedy, our thoughts are with the victims, their families and friends, with all those who are still waiting for news about their loved ones, and with the rescue and medical personnel who is working tirelessly.

Switzerland is grateful for the sympathy and solidarity from around the world, as well as for the support and assistance provided by various governments in admitting injured persons to hospitals and establishing contact with victims' families abroad. Switzerland thanks the authorities of the Republic of Armenia for their condolences and expression of solidarity.
