When the Swiss/French ballet legend Maurice Béjart set about choreographing a new ballet for the Tokyo Ballet in 1993, he chose Japanese novelist Yukiko Mishima as a motif. The Tokyo Ballet has performed «M» not only in Japan but also internationally in prestigious theaters including Palais Garnier, Teatro alla Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Hamburgische Staatsoper, where it received huge critical and public acclaim. In commemoration of the 50th death anniversary of Mishima, this autumn the Tokyo Ballet will perform «M» for the first time in 10 years.

Choreography / Decor and Costume Concepts by Maurice Béjart, Music by Toshiro Mayuzumi, Claude Debussy, Johann Strauss II, and Richard Wagner.
