| Background | Since October 2023, Gaza’s health system has been weakened by the ongoing armed conflict. The significant damage to the medical infrastructure has left many without access to medical care, including treatment for chronic illnesses, maternal and infant care, and mental health support. Disease outbreaks, malnutrition and violence are rising as the war continues. Humanitarian aid provision is restricted, worsening conditions and limiting access to life-saving services are observed. Since the outbreak of the war, at least 125,000 people are reported to be injured and thousands, including many children, urgently need specialized treatment, while medical supplies and fuel remain critically scarce. In the West Bank, the health situation has also worsened and access to essential healthcare is limited. |
| Objectives | Preventing and alleviating human suffering, protecting life and health, ensuring the respect of human dignity, preventing disease, and promoting health, social care and volunteering both in times of peace and war as well as during emergencies, crises and disasters. |
