IHA launches HESG Assessment Fund and first call for proposals
The International Hydropower Association (IHA) launches a new fund to co-finances assessments with its Hydropower Environmental Social and Governance (HESG) gap analysis tool for hydropower projects in priority countries for the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Affairs - SECO.
The HESG tool has been developed to allow project developers to assess their projects against common good practice on hydropower sustainability with the objective to eventually qualify them for climate/green bond financing.
Managed by IHA’s sustainability division, the fund is endowed with CHF 1 million to co-finance at least 40 HESG assessments over the next four years.
The call for proposals for the first tranche of CHF 250,000 for 2020 is open until the 1st June 2020. The deadline has been extended as a response to the general disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
