Winner of the ARD and Prague Spring International Music Competitions, virtuosic German bassoonist Matthias Rácz is currently Principal Bassoon of Tonhalle Orchester Zürich and Lucerne Festival Orchestra. He has performed with many renowned orchestras including Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Berliner Symphoniker, and has appeared as guest soloist at prestigious festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein, Rheingau and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festivals.
In his Hong Kong début, Rácz will perform Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in B-flat with Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Hong Kong conductor Ken Lam (Music Director of Charleston Symphony Orchestra). Programme also includes Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony and Messiaen’s “Les Offrandes Oubliées”.
