Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Important information for travelers
The spread of the respiratory disease COVID-19 is leading to restrictions on travel in many places. After Ecuador had already introduced a mandatory 14-day quarantine on Friday 13 March for all travellers from particularly affected countries, including Switzerland, Vice-President Otto Sonnenholzner announced on Saturday 14 March that the borders would be closed to international travel from Sunday 15 March at 23.59 hrs. National flights will continue to be operated according to schedule.
We therefore advise all Swiss tourists currently in Ecuador to contact the airline as soon as possible in order to clarify when and how the return journey can be made. Do not travel to the airport without a confirmed flight, but contact the airline. The airlines and the Ecuadorian government make every effort to allow all tourists to leave the country. On the Quiport website you can find all international flights still in operation.
Persons arriving from the affected countries since Friday 13 March continue to be subject to a two-week quarantine period. The quarantine is to be carried out in specially selected hotels. Persons who have relatives or acquaintances in Ecuador may under certain circumstances also be able to carry out the quarantine with them.
Please check your travel plans and contact your tour operator or airline. Several airlines organize return flights from Ecuador.

This false publicity refers to a so-called clause in the Swiss Constitution that would allow foreigners to access to high pensions. Please ignore this erroneous information that has no truthfulness.
