COVID-19 in Indonesia: Switzerland sends 600 oxygen concentrators to Jakarta

Switzerland is helping Indonesia to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Swiss Humanitarian Aid sent 600 oxygen concentrators to Jakarta on Saturday, with a total value of nearly CHF 1 million. This is the sixth delivery of oxygen concentrators and other medical supplies that Switzerland has made to another country since May 2021, worth over CHF 15 million in total.

Competitiveness and Sustainability: Switzerland’s Economic Cooperation and Development Program with Indonesia 2021-2024

Switzerland and Indonesia renewed their development partnership on February 25, 2021, by jointly launching Switzerland’s Economic Cooperation and Development Program with Indonesia 2021-2024. The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) will provide CHF 65 million in grant funding to support Indonesia in becoming a more competitive, resilient, and equitable economy. The Program 2021-2024 is a testament to the strong partnership between Switzerland and Indonesia, which are celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations this year.

It was the first time that such an exchange had taken place and was intended to identify possible areas of economic cooperation.

The signing of the Memorandum followed a trilateral meeting between Switzerland’s State Secretary Pascale Baeriswyl, Thailand’s Permanent Secretary Busaya Mathelin and ASEAN’s Deputy Secretary General Hoang Anh Tuan.

Head of Swiss Humanitarian Aid visits Palu

Jakarta, 24 October 2018 - Ambassador Manuel Bessler, the Swiss Government’s Delegate for Humanitarian Aid, visited Palu on 22-23 October. He met with displaced people, authorities and local aid organizations. Accompanied by Kurt Kunz, Ambassador-designate of Switzerland to Indonesia, he reviewed Switzerland’s humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the earthquakes and tsunami. They donated additional material for water treatment and shelter to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).
