Progetto concluso

Libya remains trapped in a protracted economic crisis, insecurity, and political deadlock leading to an increase in vulnerabilities and in the number of people in need of humanitarian assistance. As estimated by the Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) Libya (2017), 1.33 million people, including some 439,000 children, are in immediate need of humanitarian aid and protection and 241,000 children require quality education.

Il progetto in breve
Contesto Libya is hosting an estimated 400,445 vulnerable migrants and around 32,035 (8 per cent) of these are minors (11,853 (37 percent) of whom are unaccompanied and separated children). Throughout their whole journey, the children on the move are denied access to basic services (education, health and protection…) while detained children suffer from horrific conditions inside detention centres.
Obiettivi The UNICEF humanitarian strategy aims to provide immediate life-saving assistance to conflict-affected children and their families, while simultaneously building the mid- to long-term resilience of affected communities and local institutions. In line with the humanitarian principles and the Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC).
Gruppi target Most vulnerable children (0-18 years), regardless of their status - migrant, refugee, Internal Displaced People, returnee, conflict-affected children in host communities - including those in hard to reach areas.
Effetti a medio termine In response to the mentioned urgent humanitarian needs, UNICEF together with 17 partners continues to deliver assistance in the sectors of health, education, child protection, water and sanitation, in the remote, hard to reach and conflict affected areas of the country.
Risultati

Risultati principali attesi:  

Health

  • 1.4 million children aged 0 to 6 years vaccinated against polio
  • 1.2 million children aged 9 months to 6 years vaccinated against measles

WASH

  • 95,000 people accessing water for drinking and sanitation facilities
  • 10,000 children accessing WASH facilities in their learning environments

Education

  • 35,000 school-aged children accessing formal or non-formal education
  • 80,000 children having received essential learning materials and supplies

Child protection

  • 30,000 children receiving psychosocial support
  • 3,500 child survivors of gender-based violence receiving specialized care
