I recently arrived in North Macedonia and was immediately touched by the incredible hospitality and kindness of its people, by the cultural diversity of the country, by the beauty of its nature and by its exquisite cuisine and wines.  

Switzerland and North Macedonia established diplomatic relations in 1994, and since then, relations between the two countries have intensified and developed in a strong partnership, based on mutual respect and trust. 

The two countries' relations are underpinned by Switzerland's significant engagement in development cooperation and the large diaspora from the Republic of North Macedonia living in Switzerland.

Through its Cooperation Programme, Switzerland represents Swiss interests in promoting sustainable and inclusive development, as well as supporting the reform process in the Republic of North Macedonia. The priority of the Swiss cooperation programme is to support governments, institutions, civil society, the private sector, and citizens in strengthening good governance, fostering sustainable economic development, and promoting sustainable water and waste management, as well as nature protection. 

People-to-people relations between the two countries are strong. A large diaspora with origins from North Macedonia lives in Switzerland and contributes to enhancing the prosperity of both countries. Regular cultural and sports exchanges, facilitated by the Embassy, deepen these ties.

The economic relations between Switzerland and North Macedonia have potential for significant growth.

Together with the Swiss Embassy team, I am committed to further strengthening the excellent relations and close cooperation between our two countries in the political, economic, social, environmental and cultural fields.
