Key aspects of diplomatic relations
Switzerland and Norway share a strong commitment in the fields of human security, peacebuilding, humanitarian policy and migration. Close contacts exist at the multilateral level, both within international (e.g. the UN) and regional organisations (e.g. the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)).
As neither of them is a member of the European Union, Switzerland and Norway maintain close contacts within the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and the World Trade Association (WTO). The volume of bilateral trade amounted to CHF 1.12 billion in 2019.
