TRAKO is Poland’s largest and most prestigious rail industry meeting and Europe’s second most important event of its kind. Held on 21–24 September at the AMBEREXPO Exhibition & Convention Centre, Gdańsk, the fair will be the largest railway industry event in Europe this year. The 14th TRAKO coincides with the European Year of Rail, announced by the European Commission. To mark the occasion, the Connecting Europe Express set off on a journey across Europe; it is a special train which left Lisbon on 2 September, to arrive at its terminus in Paris on 7 October. Over a period of 36 days, it will visit 26 countries and cover a distance of 20,000km, bringing countries and people together. The Connecting Europe Express will call at over 70 cities; in Poland, these will include Cracow, Warsaw and Gdańsk, where it will stay at the Stadion Expo stop for 24 hours and set off to continue its journey on Tuesday, 21 September, after 17:00.

This includes the AMBEREXPO exhibition halls, three exhibition tents (over 10,000m2), built specially to accommodate the fair, a kilometre of tracks and outdoor areas in Żaglowa Street.
