Swiss Cooperation Office in Sudan

Welcome to the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC in Sudan

Sudan is not an SDC priority country, nor does the SDC have a "special programme" there. However, as a result of Switzerland's high profile and credibility in Sudan, the SDC decided in 2006 to contribute to the existing programmes of Humanitarian Aid and Political Affairs Division IV in that country, the main aim being to effectively combine the synergies generated by development assistance, humanitarian reconstruction aid, and peace-promotion measures during the present phase of political transition.

SDC Programme Office in Sudan

Sudan is home to the world’s largest humanitarian operation, a complex effort that involves scores of agencies and two peacekeeping missions. The SDC has been supporting UN agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working in Sudan since 1994 and in 2003, the growing humanitarian needs in Darfur prompted the SDC to intensify its cooperation activities.
