The Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF), also known as Festival of the Dhow Countries, is an annual film festival held in Zanzibar, Tanzania. It has been described as one of the largest cultural event in East Africa. ZIFF is a non-governmental organisation established in 1997 to develop and promote film and other cultural industries as catalyst for regional social and economic growth.
The ZIFF 2018 opening film Bahasha, was produced by Media for Development International (MfDI) in close collaboration with the Prevention and Combatting of Corruption Bureau (PCCB), and co-financed by Switzerland and the Netherlands.
Moreover, Switzerland is supporting the ZIFF 2018 Village Panorama programme which aims to present an opportunity in utilising the power of film to bring about positive and sustainable change, and to create room for interaction among the community. The 2018 Village Panorama will cover six villages in Unguja North - Mahonda, Donge, Mkokotoni, Fukuchani, Kidoti and Nungwi.
