About the film "WET SAND":

Synopsis - A village at the Georgian Black Sea with friendly people believing to know each other. One day, Eliko is found hanged; his granddaughter More comes to organize his funeral. She is confronted with a web of lies and the tragic consequences of Eliko's hidden love life with Amnon over the last 22 years. The truth, however, frees Moe's capability to love and provokes the villagers to take a stand.

Awards - Winner "Prix de Soleure" 2022 / Nominated "Swiss Film Awards" for Best Fiction 2022 / Best Actor Gia Agumava at "Locarno Film Festival" 2021

Director - Elene Naveriani is a non-binary film maker and artist from Georgia, they studied film in Switzerland and are currently residing and working in Switzerland. Their first feature film "I am Truly a Drop of Sun on Earth" (2017) reached inernational acclaim. Elene's work visibilizes the stories which are forgotton or oppressed in society.

This event is co-presented by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver, SFU Woodward's Cultural Programs and Out On Screen.
