Better known as the sculptor of wiry figures, our compatriot Alberto Giacometti was also a great painter and draughtsman. Drawing was at the heart of his approach. Very early on, he declared: "What needs to be said, what I believe, is that whether it's sculpture or painting, it's only the drawing that counts [...], for me at least, everything is only drawing."
