“My Life as Courgette” by Claude Barras (2016)
Winner of the European Animated Feature Film Prize and recent César Award, the Oscar nominated production tells a unique, yet universal story. It pays homage to neglected and mistreated children, who do their best to survive and live with their wounds. Courgette is a 9 year old, who, after having suddenly lost his mother, believes he is alone in the world. He struggles at first to find his place in a strange, sometimes hostile, environment at his new foster care centre. Yet with his newfound friends, he eventually learns to trust, find true love and at last, a new family of his own.
