"Jugendmusik Kreuzlingen“ in Singapore

Friday, 01.08.2014 – Friday, 01.08.2014

Concert

@ FDFA

This concert competition trip lasted 10 days and culminated in two concerts in conjunction with Singapore National Day celebrations and one for the Swiss National celebration. On the 1st of August, under the patronage and presence of Ambassador Thomas Kupfer, the Kreuzlingen orchestra played with great enthusiasm for hundreds of Singaporeans at Tampines Central Park. Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat was Guest of Honour and in his opening speech, he seized the opportunity to highlight how much Singapore and Switzerland had in common. Indeed, the exchange between both cultures was a great success; aside from the good music, Swiss folklore was also represented with performances of “Talerschwingern” and “Schellen-Schüttlern” as well as Alp horn blowing, which particularly impressed the locals. The event closed with a laser show synchronized with the beat of the song “Stand-Up for Singapore”, specially arranged for this occasion by Kreuzlingen Orchestra’s conductor.

On the 2nd August, the official National Day celebration for the Swiss in Singapore, the musicians played on the Swiss Club’s ground in front of more than 700 guests.
