Sudan – OCHA / UNDP, Common Humanitarian Fund (CHF), 2014
The CHF is a multi-donor pooled fund, managed under the direction of the Humanitarian Coordinator (HC). The fund finances projects of UN agencies, international and national non-governmental organizations. The CHF is used for timely allocation and disbursement of donor resources to the most urgent humanitarian needs and critical gaps in Sudan. The CHF meaningfully strengthens the response capacity and fosters at the same time greater sectoral responsibility and accountability – it has an important role in the current situation.

Hintergrund |
The humanitarian operation in Sudan remains one of the largest in the world with up to 6.1 million people in need of humanitarian assistance in different parts of the country, particularly in Darfur, South-Kordofan and the Nile States (multi-faceted and complex conflicts between Government and opposition groups and increasing inter-tribal disputes). |
Ziele |
To give the HC greater ability to target funds at the most critical needs; To strengthen the response capacity, including greater sectoral responsibility and accountability; To have more predictable and timely funding of operational UN agencies and their NGO implementing partners in undertaking emergency activities |
Zielgruppen |
CHF addresses the highest identified needs according to the Humanitarian Needs Overview and the Strategic Response Plan for high priority projects in the Humanitarian Work Plan. |
Mittelfristige Wirkungen |
Reduction of morbidity and mortality rates and improved protection for the most vulnerable groups (IDPs and Host Communities); more vision for durable solutions. |
Resultate |
Resultate von früheren Phasen: Humanitarian interventions financed by CHF became more effective and efficient. It is important that Switzerland joins the CHF in line of good donor practise and due to increasing complexities of the context. |
