This year's annual conference of Swiss Humanitarian Aid and the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit (SHA) is to be devoted to the crisis in Syria. In a series of lectures, interviews and a panel discussion, Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter, Carla del Ponte, member of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, Staffan de Mistura, Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, Annemarie Huber-Hotz, President of the Swiss Red Cross, Ambassador Manuel Sager, SDC Director General, and Ambassador Manuel Bessler, Federal Council Delegate for Swiss Humanitarian Aid and head of the SHA, together with others will discuss the scale of the humanitarian crisis and Switzerland's commitment since the start of the crisis in 2011.

Switzerland's currently biggest humanitarian action

The massive refugee movements caused by the Syrian crisis are also impacting Europe, but Syria and its immediate neighbouring countries are the most severely affected. This is the reason for Switzerland's currently biggest humanitarian action in the region.

The annual conference of Swiss Humanitarian Aid and and the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit will take place on Friday 18 March 2016 in the Parkarena Oberwinterthur.
