Perspective cooperation towards the development of water resources management

A Stakeholders’ Conference of the «National Water Resources Management Project» of the Swiss Cooperation Office of the Embassy of Switzerland was held in Tashkent on February 14, 2017. The objective of the event was to discuss the project’s plan of activities for the current year by involving all the beneficiaries of the project, including representatives of the local water management agencies and farmers.

The promotion of water saving technologies and their demonstration is one of the priorities of the project. With the framework of the project an Information and Resource Center (IRC) will be established. The main function of IRC is providing extension services for farmers and water managers on the matter. Strengthening technical and institutional capacities of the water management institutions and supporting Water Consumers Associations will be implemented through comprehensive training programs.    

Stefan Kloetzli, Ambassador of Switzerland to Uzbekistan/Head of Cooperation and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of IT and Communication, "Uzpakhtasanoat" Joint Stock Company as well as local water management agencies experts and farmers have taken part in the event.
