The "Francophonie Week" is the festival of the French language and cultures of the French-speaking countries, which is celebrated in the middle of March across the world. The organizers and partners have prepared a program for the broad public, which consists of 20 events.

French is the fifth language spoken in the world, the third language for business, used by more than 300 million people on five continents; it is also known as the language of diplomacy and is one of official UN languages. 88 countries are members of the International Organization of Francophonie, in 29 of which French is the official language.

This year, Francophonie is expanding and events will also take place in Karakol and Osh. The festival week will start with a theatre performance of the fairy tale "Platypus adventures" on 5 April at 17:00 at the National Centre for Youth "Seitek" in Bishkek (free entry).

The Swiss film "Last Dance" will be presented on 12 April at 18.00 at the cinema "Rossiya" in Bishkek (free entry). On the same day this film will also be screened in Karakol and Osh.

The French animation film will be presented on 7 April at 14:00 at the French Alliance in Bishkek (address: 242 Ogonbaev str.), as well as in Osh (free entry).

The closing ceremony of the Francophonie Week will take place on 13 April at 16:00 at the Metro Pub and will end with a folklore music concert by multi-instrumentalist Frédéric Jouhannet and local musicians (free entry).
