Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis to travel to Hungary and the Western Balkans

On Wednesday, 22 May, Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis will travel to Budapest to meet with his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó and Minister for European Union Affairs Janos Bóka. He will also pay a courtesy visit to President Tamás Sulyok. Hungary will hold the presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of 2024. Following his visit to Hungary, Mr Cassis will travel to Montenegro on 23 May at the invitation of Foreign Minister Filip Ivanovic, before meeting Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali in Belgrade on Friday, 24 May.The meetings will focus on Switzerland's bilateral relations with the three countries, European policy and the European security situation.


Prima Facie – A success story of the Culture for Democracy project

The theatre performance "Prima Facie", a groundbreaking theatrical production that premiered in Serbia, at Belgrade’s Bitef Theatre in early 2024 has been a remarkable success. The production of the performance is supported through the Culture for Democracy Project, the inaugural and foundational bilateral initiative of the Swiss Government in Serbia's cultural and artistic landscape. This endeavor, aligned with the Swiss objective to provide support to independent cultural scene while fostering social cohesion and tolerance at the local level, has yielded outstanding results that resonate regionally.


Swiss support to domestic businesses continues

Within the Swiss-supported SME HUB project, another Serbian company has initiated the process of business transformation. MPK Trade, a company from Valjevo employing 165 people, is on its way to further develop cooperation with an Austrian multi-national company operating in Serbia, ZG Lighting SRB LLC (part of the Zumtobel Group). 


An honour to the 4th cycle of a successful Swiss-Serbian Migration Partnership celebrated at the Palace of Serbia

On the occasion of the successful implementation of a three-year project within the Swiss-Serbian Migration Partnership entitled "Strengthening capacities and partnerships for migration management in Serbia", a formal event was organized at the Palace of Serbia. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the main partners in the project were the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs.

Support for 12 Local Governments to Enhance the Application of Good Governance Principles

Specialised municipal support packages to enhance the application of good governance principles at the local level will be implemented in the area of administrative efficiency and effectiveness, citizen participation and transparency, as well as accountability and prevention of corruption. This was announced at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and 12 local governments, which was organised on February 29, 2024 in Belgrade, with the support of the Swiss Government through the joint UN Programme "PRO - Local Governance for People and Nature".


SME HUB Caravan continues its journey across Serbia
