Closing Conference of the Sustainable Development for All Platform

The results of the current phase of the “SDGs for All” Platform were presented at the final conference entitled "Agenda 2030 - Together for a Sustainable Future", on June 8, 2022. The conference brought together close to 200 participants from diverse stakeholder groups, including civil society, national and local level institutions, the corporate sector, and the research and academic community, media and others, who took part both in person and on-line. 


Act Community Days 2022

The ‘ACT Community Days’ conference was held from June 1 - 3 in Belgrade, with the aim of bringing together all civil society organizations that are directly or indirectly benefiting from the ACT project, supported by the Swiss Government. The conference was opened by Mr. Richard Kohli, Head of Cooperation of the Embassy of Switzerland, Mr. Jens Engeli, international leader of the ACT project and regional director of Helvetas for Southeast Europe, and Ms. Maja Stojanovic, executive director of Civic Initiatives that is implementing the ACT project together with Helvetas.

Swiss Ambassador Mr. Urs Schmid addressed the audience at the conference "SME of Serbia 2030: MSP100 Expo" on June 1, 2022 in the MIND Park in Kragujevac. The conference was organized by the Center for Advanced Economic Studies (CEVES) and is a part of a two-year society-wide dialogue within the “SDGs for All” Platform.


The Embassy of Switzerland officially marked the beginning of the new Cooperation Programme for Serbia 2022 – 25

Within the new Programme, Switzerland will focus its support on topics of economic development and employment, democratic governance and civil society as well as climate change and sustainable urban development.




Signing Memorandum of Understanding with 15 new local governments to join the MED program

On March 24, the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the Swiss Government, the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and 15 municipalities in Serbia signed a joint Memorandum of Understanding to promote citizens’ engagement in the decision-making process at the local level. The Swiss government is providing EUR 733,000 in support of the planned activities.


Long-term investments into the Serbian start-up ecosystem

Through the Innovation Fund, the Government of Serbia launched a new support program with the aim to incentivize private investors to engage in financing startups with high growth potential by incorporating venture capital funds in Serbia. The design of this new programme was supported by Switzerland. 


Winners of the Annual Award for best LSG in applying good governance principles

Krupanj, Vrnjačka Banja, Veliko Gradište and Ćuprija - winners of the 2021 Annual Award for the best town/municipality in applying good governance principles. The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government (MPALSG) tends to use this award mechanism to encourage and support further improvement of good governance at the local level. The winners are also awarded through the Swiss PRO Programme supported by the Government of Switzerland.


Announcement of grant recipients supported within the first calls in the field of culture

The Culture for Democracy project has selected the first grant winners under two calls: support to cultural and artistic projects and partnership projects. The Swiss supported Culture for Democracy project selected grantees within the first open call. Support will be dedicated to a total of 19 projects for the realization of cultural and artistic projects and realization of partnership projects amounting to EUR 232,000.
