Hintergrund |
SMEs need to meet and prove conformity with market entry requirements, face challenges at different levels: At the macro level (policy), Vietnam seems to have a clear vision on their overall foreign trade strategy. However, there is less clarity about which resources, instruments and incentives could be used to achieve the stated objectives. At the meso level (institutions), the business support eco-system is gradually forming but remains fragmented and at a nascent stage. Finally, at micro level (private sector), SMEs in Vietnam are facing key constraints in market access including compliance with international market standards. |
Ziele |
The overall project objective is to improve trade performance and international competitiveness of SMEs through enhanced favorable framework condition for trade, public-private partnership mechanisms, and a strengthened eco-system for dynamic trade promotion. Ultimately, it will contribute to sustainable and inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction in the country. |
Mittelfristige Wirkungen |
Exports are facilitated because the framework conditions are favorable, meaning they are documented in a National Strategy, based on evidence, coordinated among the relevant ministries and consulted with relevant private sector stakeholders. The effect of the enhanced favorable framework conditions is more sustainable, because the private sector is thematically and financially engaged and collaborates with the Government through Public-Private Partnerships for Export Development. Dynamic Business Support Organizations (BSOs) are enabled to deliver services to SMEs for exports and participation in global value chains. |
