The international film festival Visions du Réel is an unmissable event for professionals in the field of documentary film. The SDC supports the festival in Nyon which also puts a spotlight on documentary films from countries of the South and East.
Visions du Réel is an internationally renowned festival, the only one in Switzerland in the field of documentary film. It serves as a platform for film-makers and producers from countries of the South and East, on the one hand to present their films to the Swiss public, and on the other as a film market to support and promote film projects at their various stages of creation, from the development phase to distribution.
The Focus section puts the spotlight each year on documentaries from a specific country of the South and East. This year's Focus is on Chile. A rich, thought-provoking programme about the past and present of this fascinating country awaits the public. Fifteen contemporary documentaries will be presented to the public during the festival and a Focus Talk day, highlighting the particular aspects of production of this country will be held on 19 April 2016. Five films currently in development will be presented by the guest directors and producers from Chile. At the end of this special day, the most promising project will receive the CHF 10,000 Visions Sud Est Prize.
