Sustainable Cities Platform

The Sustainable Cities Program, managed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will support selected municipalities in choosen countries to mobilize private sector investements and solutions, which will help to close the financing gap for climate relevant infrastructure.

1) increase non-sovereign and private sector investments for sustainable and innovative urban infrastructure and 2) demonstrate and replicate innovative investment models for municipal infrastructure projects to the private sector and ultimately to increase access to and improve the quality of urban infrastructure.

Implemented strategic planning of sustainable urban infrastructure and private sector participation in urban infrastructure service delivery

Increased capacity to design and deliver a pipeline of bankable infrastructure services

Increased pipeline of feasible and bankable infrastructure projects of cities

Increased knowledge of national governments and cities in sustainable urban infrastructure development and private sector funding models

Improved enabling environment for municipal infrastructure projects and private sector participation

Conducted strategic advisory services to assist cities in the long-term planning, prioritization and realization of urban infrastructure strategies

Conducted targeted transaction advisory support to individual urban infrastructure projects with high development impact and private sector participation

Developed policy recommendations, raised awareness and shared knowledge regarding sustainable urban infrastructure development and private sector participation in infrastructure delivery
